VT casts a long shadow. There's a certain impression VT makes throughout the world at large. And the impression is pretty positive. It's pretty hard to get a negative impression of VT due to the sinister influence of Maple Syrup, Ben and Jerry's and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters ;-)

Frankly there have been a lot of puzzling posts about crime in VT here at the board. That's why I posted this.

I live footsteps from Downtown Burlington. Many of the people in my neighborhood don't bother to lock their doors until bedtime.

Spring's spring and that's another nice thing about VT. We have (at least) 4 distinct seasons!

Two Chaz Longues responses in one post tee hee.....
I think there are really only two seasons, spring and winter.
But, one thing that took a while to get over(?) when I first got
here was the trust people have of thier neighbors. One of the
jobs I took as a stopgap measure until I found a job in my field
(which never happened) was temporary drivers helper for UPS
during the Christmas season. I couldnt get over that people had
garages and front doors unlocked and told the UPS driver just to
open doors and put the item inside. Everything was unlocked !!
I would open garage doors as per customer instruction and there
would be expensive bicycles, a canoe, and other expensive stuff
and the door is unlocked !! I was told just to walk in peoples houses
to put something on a particular table ! Coming from where I did in
PA this was just too bizarre for me to comprehend ! Im used to it now
and rarely lock my doors, a habit I am going to have to break when
we relocate. If I ever become independantly wealthy I would relocate
back here just for that, alone .
