Oh, I make mine by hand! I love working with dough. Maybe I should get a job as a baker..?

Hey Gypsy, you never know! I always see job listings on Craigs List for bakers and the like...it could be your true calling!!

Cheapest man in America is a Vermonter who saves lives!
Not only is Roy a scream (and his tips fabulous), but he and Lisa are wonderful and compassionate people who run an animal rescue, Save Our Strays in Huntington, VT:
Welcome to Save Our Strays - VT
I've enjoyed Lisa and Roy's company at animal events. My supervisor at work and others I know have adopted the most wonderful animals from Lisa and Roy's Save Our Strays.
Click here to see how Lisa went from professional wrestler to animal rescuer. Click here to see Lisa's hilarious return to wrestling in the vacuum cleaner commercial and here to see the adorable kitties Lisa saved after Monkton house burned down and the cats were left among the rubble.

I happened to be flipping the tv channels last night and caught that segment on tv!
Wow, that guy is cheap. Where in VT does he live?
Some things I cannot do like wear used clothes (bleh, bad vibes). I am not much for second hand stuff unless I get it from family.
You've heard of dumpster divers, right?
Did you guys ever read that book/news letter the Cheapwad Gazette?
I believe that is what it was called. A lady in Maine came up with it. She had a whole bunch of tips and ideas for saving $. Maybe your library (right!) has copies.
Amazon.com: The Complete Tightwad Gazette: Amy Dacyczyn: Books
I read it a few times in NY.
She has a whole lot of kids and only one person (at the time) worked while the father (retired) stayed home and did his frugal part.
Interesting to read.
Today after walking the dog, I made homemade chocolate chip/chocolate muffins.

I can imagine that people who have an ick factor around used clothes might seek other options. Luckily, there's TJ Maxx.
I've always loved used clothes from friends, consignment stores, wherever! A few weeks ago I found a new-looking fleece zip-up in an office building parking lot. I went to the businesses, left my card, and said that if anyone came looking for it, they could call me. No one did. I washed it and now my husband has a beautiful fleece zip-up that fits and suits him perfectly! :-))

We bought wood this summer and haven't turned on our furnace. Have no intentions to do so. It's a lot of work keeping the woodstove running, but when Ultramar is still quoting almost $3 a gallon for propane, I'm not willing to spend that much.
We froze everything from our garden this summer so that we'd have veggies to last through the winter.
The company my husband works for switched workers to 32 hour work weeks until further notice. That's a day lost for pay, so that's made us really tighten our budget. We dropped cable and watch TV through the computer. I work from home, so dropping Internet isn't an option, though it would be gone if I worked elsewhere.
I use Freecycle for lots, though when I post wanted ads, I do not get half the responses I get when posting things to get rid of. That's the one downfall with Freecycle.
Harder was our town dropping high school bus service this summer. I have to drive my son to school (1o miles one-way) and while I was able to get in on a carpool, there's been a bit of discord as of late. Some parents with kids in clubs feel it still should be the responsibility of the other scheduled drivers to pick up the students late regardless if their child is in a club or not. With this friction, I don't know how much longer the car pool will last.

Vermonter2--
What program (if any) do you use to watch internet tv? Or do you just google free shows/whatever.
I dropped out of our local freecycle because we kept getting a ton of spam and people asked for RIDICULOUS stuff (electronics, applicances, whatever) and rarely gave anything away.
Still, it's a good idea, in theory.

I live 2 block from Recycle North in Burlington.
They take some of my junk - I collect the occasional treasure.
