Default Please Help! Relocating to the Williston Area

My Husband, myself and our 2 children, 4 and 16 months old are relocating to the Williston are from Northern NJ. We are expected to be there in June. We have only visted the Rutland area, and loved it. We are planning on coming to the Burlington area in April to hopefully buy a house. We are having a hard time finding affordable housing without having an hour commute. My husband works and I am a SAHM and we need to purchase a home for around 175,000. I am more interested in location versus size of house. I want a better life for my kids, I want them to live somewhere where it is safe and clean and friendly, I don't want to be 30 minutes from the nearest hospital either. I am hoping someone could tell me if they know of any towns that might fit our needs. Schools are not an issue, as we will be homeschooling. Any information is very much appreciated. Thanks and God Bless.

175k? Thats going to be tight. Are you looking for a single family home? You may be able to get an older condo for that price. You may find some older homes in Burlington proper for that amount. I know in South Burlington a single family "starter home" goes for over $200K.
You may want to look at Milton, Georgia, or St. Albans. House prices are a little lower there.
There is a Burlington area realtor who frequents this board, so hopefully he/she will be able to give you some more specific info.

A single family home is preferable, but if a condo or a multi family affords us the quality of life we seek, then that is preferable. The towns you mentioned Milton, Georgia, St Albans, you would recommend those?

Yes. Georgia is more rural. Milton suburban/rural, and St. Albans is more of a large town with a hospital & shopping. St. Albans is about 25 minutes to the Burlington area. Milton & Georgia closer.
Bristol might be another option, especially if your husband will be working in Williston (I'm assuming)? It would be about 35-40 minutes to Williston, depending on what part of town you are in. The closest hospital would be Porter in Middlebury, 15 min. away or so.

I am a realtor in the Saint Albans area. Many people start out looking in the Burlington area, and then usually branch out due to prices. I can give more details if you want to e-mail me.
