Yes there was and as a matter of fact they apparently just recently took down the NH state flag at their town hall. The publicity of the call to secede was indeed due to taxes and what the town gets in return.

our house on bomoseen, vt is listed at 220,000 and we pay 3900 a year for approx. 1800 sqft(3 br.) in nj our house is listed at approx. 220,000 and we pay 6900 a year for 2870 sqft(4 br.) both lots are about 1/3 of an acre. they estimate our nj tax to be 7200 next year because the state cut spending. same problems no matter where you live. good luck
