Default Mom & Pop lodging around Springfield

Can anyone give suggestions for lodging around Springfield? Of course, the Holiday Inn Express is there but truthfully we would rather spend our hard earned money with a small Mom & Pop establishment. We'll have three kids in tow so a B&B is probably not a great idea. Any comments on the Abey Lyn (is this a B&B?) or the Red Robin across the border in NH? Thanks!

Hi, personally I would put the Holiday Inn Express at the bottom of the list as well as the Abby Lynn...Holiday Inn Express is relatively expensive, without the 'charm'..and Abby Lynn is probably not what I would call a 'B&B' or even close to that...

If you are willing to drive, say an additional10-20 mins from Springfield, I would suggest some of the wonderful Inn's in Chester, and even Ludlow .. are you talking about soon or towards the end of ski season by the way.

There is also a really nice place called the Inn at Weathersfield (which, if you are familiar with the general area)...you would be on Rte 10 going north, [from Springfield), just passing the Abby Lynn which would be on your R, you turn R onto Route 106. Stay on Route 106 for about 5-8 minutes and the Inn at Weathersfield will be on your left.

Alternatively, you could stay straight on Rte 10 to the end, which will take you to Gassetts and Route 103, turn L onto Route 103 and you will head into Chester...there are beautiful and welcoming inns in Chester...OR you can take a R at Route 103 and continue straight for proabably 10-12 mins and you will be heading to Ludlow.

Hope this is helpful to you. Feel free to email me if you would like additional suggestions as well.

There are many nice inns in Chester.
Some are on the village green, some are in the areas surrounding town proper.

Chester Vermont Innkeepers Association - Lodging and Accommodations in the Okemo Valley Region
On the green:

Inn Victoria looks lovely.
The Fullerton Inn is very nice and was featured in the holiday movie, Moonlight and Mistletoe.

In between Springfield and Chester:
Old Town Farm Inn is on Route 10 in Gassetts. One of the innkeepers is a highly acclaimed Japanese chef.

Rowells is far west of Chester and Springfield on the road to Londonderry.

Abby Lynn is a definate NO... ewww that place is nasty. should be torn down redone with style and class... and then maybe it would be clean. JMO

Head towards Chester and check out Motel in the Meadow, that has some good reviews and the prices are decent.

For the OP: Motel in the Meadow is on the way out of Chester, heading toward Londonderry. It's a pleasant ride to Springfield from there.

The only concern would be availability during snow season -- they have the VAST almost right in their backyard.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the great info. We decided to stay at the Motel in the Meadow. It was just what we were looking for! The room we stayed in was spacious, clean, included a micro/frig, muffins/cereal/coffee in the morning and the location was perfect. Price was just right too. Everyone was very welcoming throughout our stay. The Inn Keeper was wonderful! We will definately stay with them again. We really didn't want to leave. It was a very quiet ride home to PA....still homesick for VT.
