Default Asperger's Support Group in/near Montpelier

Hi, I am the mother of a nine year old boy who [I believe] has Aspergers. We have an IEP at school and are going through the CDC for more help but, I really need a support group of parents who know how to deal with the stresses of parenting a child with Aspergers. My whole purpose is to find out more and become my son's biggest advocate - but also I sometimes need to vent regarding some of his behaviors. Is there anyone out there who can help or point me in the direction I need to go? I am new to this forum and have never blogged before.

This support group is a fantastic, but I have a question about help for adults with AS. It seems that everywhere I look, I can only find help for children. My 24-year-old boyfriend has AS, but I don't think it has even been properly addressed. I think that a professional or a support group would be wonderful for him, but I can't find anything advertised for someone older. As the people who are reading this thread are participators in the AS community, does anyone know of any resources for older people with AS?

I'd recommend 'perhaps' one of the colleges in Burlington can help you. Maybe their student resource center or 'whatever' they call the place that students can go to for help. 22 (when students graduate) is not so far from 24...maybe they can refer you.

I will pm you some info...

Anyone else can google Vermont Family Network for more info. If your b/friend is open to it, he can get tested. I am sure a qualified AS psychologist could help him.

Hi there. I just found this online. I live in central Vermont and I wonder if you ever found an AS person you liked? I have a six year old son who is exhibiting subtle signs...I really don't KNOW if this is an issue for him. I just know he's struggling in ways I'd like to help him with, and I'm not sure who to talk with. How do you think I should learn more about AS and are there any support groups in VT or experts in the area?

Thanks!!

E
