LOL! You wouldn't be the first driver to fall in love with our transportees. :-)
There are parents who bring their children on dog transports and everyone seems to love this. Also, sometimes people bring their resident dogs. My concern would be about sharing an illness between them but I haven't heard any bad stories about this in 7 years of driving rescue transport.
When you are ready, feel free to PM me for contact info for the transport coordinators so you can get on their email lists. They're all volunteers, too, btw.

Thank you. If I were to bring my daughter on a transport -- fuggedaboutit -- they would ALL come home with us. She's just entering the 'tween' stage; I figure once she's a teenager and more independent it will be an easier transition. That, and I'll need a bigger car. A Wrangler is not "bernie' sized! Sure, I can take a passel of poodles....

Ha! We do this in our Honda Civic! We cover the back seats and floors with old flannel sheets and towels. Of course, my husband and I are the only humans so two front seats are sufficient.
Just look at the size of the car I used to do this in:

Here's a dog EVERYONE fell in love with during transport:
Rescue Transport -- FW: Sun. 12/9: Vermont drivers needed for sweet Elliot dog
Elliott was adopted by the next-door neighbor of the driver who picked him up from my husband & me. Yes, Elliott had to go all the way to his destination, Save Our Strays in Huntington, Vermont and THEN get adopted & transported back to Wallingford. Seems at first like a waste of driving, but those procedures are built in for safety and fairness. These babies have been through enough and deserve loving care for the rest of their lives.
OT enough for you yet? ;-)
