Default Return to work - Unemployment

My small office cannot keep me on and I will need to go on unemployment until (hopefully) things pick up. I tried to call the Dept. of Labor today, but they are closed.

Does anyone know how long an employer can put the "return to work" date out there. Meaning the number of weeks in the future the employer can put as an expected date to hire me back?

Unfortunately, if business doesn't pick up, they don't have to hire you back. Best of luck to you Duff.

The only thing I have heard along this line is what is termed recall rights and that involves union type contracts. Even recall rights expire after a certain time. Sorry to hear about your situation. Do make sure you get all the information and facts on your entitlements.
