What happened to Black River Produce?
I used to stop there for yummy veggies, fruits, and snacks on my way to & from grad school, 2005-2007. It appears to be all closed up and with a different name on it besides.
As we turned toward Springfield, we saw the Old Town Farm Inn, so I've got that reference tucked away.
Imperial Garden was decent. The veggies were crisp, the tofu firm, and the sauce tasty. Mmm, veggie fried rice!

I believe they are still in business but as a produce trucking/delivery business. I don't think they have a retail store. Apparently business took them in that direction. Google would probably find the details. Somewhere near Springfield iirc there is a warehouse with a bucket load of trucks, and the old retail space in Ludlow has been closed/something else for a while now.

Thanks for reminding me! We saw the Black River distribution center on our way into Springfield. I sure did love the store but I'd rather have them succeed whatever way they need to.

We were all disappointed when Black River Produce closed their retail store in Cavendish/Proctorsville; now they just distribute although so many restaurants throughout VT and NH use Black River.
A few couples took over Black River Produce, called it Green Acres and gave it a shot but unfortunately it did not work out for them. Not sure what Black River will do with the building.
Many of us miss Black River.

What a shame for the community. Thanks for the rest of the story . . . so far.

farmers markets have gotten very popular the past couple years. that might have something to do with their retail closing. you can probably find a yr round market close by no matter where you are now (if you haven't already).

Woodstock has one; I am not sure of the days they are open (spring/summer) but it's on the green. There is the Upper Valley Produce Co (I think it is around WRJunction); there is also a newish place at the intersection of Rte 103 and Rte 10, just passing through Chester (towards Gassets and Ludlow)...

Rutland's year-round weekly farmers market is superb! This is only our second winter with it and already I have no idea where I used to get food all winter. Just wonderful.
