Default South Burlington Neighborhoods

My family and I are moving to the Burlington area for a job. My kids are 8 and 5 so schools are really important to us. We're looking for a neighborhood environment with lots of kids and we're kind of attracted to S Burlington because of the reputation of the schools but open to suggestions. Does anyone have any suggestions on what South Burlington neighborhoods to check out for housing? My budget is up to 400k.

Thanks

The 2 neighborhoods I can think of that have tons of kids are Butler Farms/Oak Creek and Dorset Farms.

We have friends living at Dorset Farms. Their three sons are growing up/grew up there. They love it. Safe, friendly, neighborly. I'm not a development fan but I can't deny they've been very happy there with all the benefits developments are supposed to offer.

In that budget I'd highly recommend Butler Farms. You won't be disappointed, tons of kids, plenty of space (for a develpoment) and a great, safe neighborhood.

With very few exceptions (which I would be happy to share), Chittenden county has fantastic schools. Generally you will hear South Burlington, Williston, and Essex at the top. Shelburne and Charlotte are very good as well. Burlington is good. Happy to share what I know with you...Moderator cut: no advertising

I grew up in South Burlington, during the time South Burlington wasn't a seperate municipality. South Burlington has 3 elementary schools: Orchard, Central, and Chamberlin. Here's the best site I know of for data on schools in Vermont:
Vermont Department of Education School Report
There are many homes in South Burlington which are served by each of the 3 schools in the price range you specify, and frankly I feel positively about all 3 of the schools. I went to Central School myself, but I've heard very positive comments from parents over the years about Orchard School and Chamberlin as well. You could visit all 3 of these schools in a single day.
Here are thier individual web sites
Chamberlin School 262 White Street So
Orchard School Home Page
Central School Home Page

You'll find data on Tuttle Middle school in the first link, above, and the website here Untitled Document

I'd stay away from Williston. It isn't anything like it is spoken to be. There are many, many problems that people are afraid to address in fear of tarnishing it's reputation.
