Default African Refugees in Vermont too?

Read this today while researching Vermont:

"The presence today of some 1500 Africans in the Burlington area is only the most prominent point of intersection between Vermont and Africa."

Has Vermont, like the Twin Cities been targeted as another place for Afro-resettlment by the gov't?

What's the current state of affairs on the ground?

Yes, check this link: Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program (VRRP). I believe many Asian refugees are included as well. Though the link shows it's statewide, to my knowledge virtually all of the refugees end up in the Burlington area, if not the city itself.

It's also notable in addition to certain folks wishing to sponsor refugee resettlement that Burlington's mayor has been an advocate for making the city into a "sanctuary city" for illegal aliens.

There are many cities like this not just the twin Cities and Burlington. Syracuse where I live has Sudanese/African, Vietnamese/SE Asian, Bosnian and other refugees/immigrants. Same with cities like Utica and Binghamton.

Also parts of Maine:

Sudanese Refugees Find New Home in Maine : NPR

When I was in grad school, one of my classmates did her Practicum work with a Sudanese community initiative.

Lewiston,Maine was a major relocation center for Somali refugees. Omaha,NE has the largest Sudanese community in the USA. Vermont is not the only place where refugees are settling.
