Default I need cable internet in northern Vermont, specifically Orleans or Essex County!

Oh hey guys. There is an extremely good chance I will be lucky enough to score a transfer to northern Vermont for my job. My boss said he could get me all the way up to Canada if I wanted, which is exactly what I want.

My only problem is cable internet. I REALLY would need to have this, for pleasure and even for work. My friend's uncle lives in Lyndonville and he has cable TV, and I've seen ads on realtor.com for Bakersfield that say high speed internet is available. Also, according to virtualvermont.com, the town of Morgan has comcast cable internet, and Morgan is only 10 miles south of the Canadian border. It also says Barton has comcast.

However, I've been looking at some nice properties in Holland and Irasburg. Is there cable internet offered here? With the city of Newport close by with 5,000 people living there, you would think so but who knows. That's why I'm here asking. Comcast even has an office in Newport.

How far north does cable internet go in Vermont? Can I get cable internet in Holland or Irasburg? Does anyone know someone who has such services that lives up there? What do people do for internet that far north?

Is my dream to live next to the Canadian border on Vermont soil crushed by not being able to get high speed internet? I'll even get DSL if I have too. I'm looking for all the options available, EXCEPT satellite internet because it's too expensive, has very high latency, and all the companies that offer it force low bandwith caps on all thier users.

Well, I live in a border town in Orleans County (North Troy) and we have Comcast. The day the guys were stringing the wires, some 5 or 6 years ago, I went out and inquired about service. Within a week, I had broadband. You could always call the Comcast office in Newport to find out about Holland and Irasburg, towns that are very spread out. It would be a surprise to find both were completely covered. Partial coverage is more likely. Good Luck!
