Worst paved road in VT? Place your bets...
The east side on 125 coming down off Breadloaf has to be in the running as are some sections of Rt. 17 west of Rt. 7.
East side of Bethel Mt. was champion for many years but now looks like an airport runway by comparison.

We have a few in the NEK. Rte 105 from Newport to North Troy and then to the intersection of Rte 101 is one of the worst I've ever driven. It's most unfortunate as this is where happen to live! There's one rut in particular between North Troy and Troy where if you exceed 20 MPH you'll absolutely kill your car's suspension. The speed limit is 50, but few are crazy enough to drive even that fast. Rte. 242 coming down from Jay Peak into Jay is totally bombed out too. An example of a real minefield that was fixed properly is the road between Hinesburg and Richmond. A few years ago they rebuilt the roadbed which was the only true fix. Lucky folks over there. All we ever get up this way is a new top coat which breaks down in 2 years.

Rt 7 from downtown Burlington through South Burlington- past Price Chopper-
and on to the southbound highway. I just replaced my struts because of that stretch.

On Route 107 where it splits off from Route 100 and runs to Bethel, frost heaves were trying to heave my passengers out of the back seat. If they hadn't had seat belts on they'd have hit the ceiling! Now that it's warmer that road may have calmed down a bit.

I've driven 128 a bunch of times and yeah, it deserves to be on the list for sure.

Some of the highways are bad but the worst roads tend to be smaller city or town controlled roads. Too many to really say which is the absolute worst...there was one road in Rutland City that was only paved "in theory" as there were patches of pavement here and there with dirt/gravel and potholes in between...but I've seen some pretty bad roads in Northern VT...

Berlin/River St (Rt 2) in Montpelier is one of the worst roads I have ever driven on. Funny this post came up because less than a week ago I pulled over to help someone out who hit one of the many craters on that road. The left steering knuckle assembly(which holds most of the left front end on a car, including the wheel and tire onto the car) was ripped off. I believe they are repairing and hopefully repaving this road soon.
Roads never last very long in Vermont. With the freezing, thawing and heaving we see every winter, many roads never last more than 4 or five years from the last time they were paved. I-89 is a perfect example. It's constantly being repaved. If you look at sections that were done only a year or two ago, they are cracked and have heaved areas.

There's this dip that goes from 4 down to Quechee Main Street which is HORRIBLE. There are so many accidents there every winter. It's steep and just has a huge drop off. I do not miss that road.
I am also getting sick of the road work on Route 5 where it merges to Route 4 (from WRJ to Hanover, right before the High School/Middle School. They have been working on this forever. I thought it looked pretty good but no, they are back ripping it up again, repaving, widening it, whatever...Today I was driving and it was merge into one lane, stop, wait for people coming down to use the same lane...ugh..
