Default road trip

My boyfriend and I are taking a road trip this summer. We will be starting in Ohio, going up to New York/ Niagara Falls area then over to Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine to spend a couple days before we have to move on. We are trying to decide where to stay and what to do. If we were to spend a couple of day in southern Vermont where would be a good place/town to stay and what would there be to do? (We would be looking for great places for photo ops, scenic views, historic sites, good restaurants, etc.) Please help us make our decision on if we should spend extra time in Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine!
Thanks for any help you can give!

The Manchester, VT area is very picturesque and offers great fly fishing. I remember driving up Route 7 from Bennington to Burlington and it was one of the prettiest drives I've ever taken. It looked like the New England you see photographed in books.

I agree Manchester, VT is a picture postcard. Lots of great shopping as well. Keep in mind there is a major horse show running for 5 weeks every summer near Manchester. Rooms need to be reserved well in advance from July 1st thru August 7th this year.

I'd recommend some ocean on your trip. I'd get over to the York Beach/ Oqunquit Maine area. It's not that far from NH/VT
