Christian schools or homeschoolers in Brattleboro?
Hey, for all those who either send their kids to Christian school or homeschool in the Brattleboro, Putney area can you tell me the best christian school around there and if there are homeschooling family groups there?
I love Putney, but think i would have to go to Brattleboro to find a school for my daughter

I have friends in Brattleboro who homeschooled their son. I remember one of them told me they used a lot of community resources.
If you PM me with your email address, I can ask these friends to contact you with experience and/or advice.
Sounds like you are seriously thinking of move here! I'm excited about that. From your posts, I know how much you love this area.

yes i love the area--i love going to the putney diner, the farmer market, all the outdoors things. and with the brattleboro retreat, we may be able to make it. concerned about the lack of options for schools, and we know there wont be many like minded people but we love Vermont immensely.

The Baptist church on Main Street, in Brattleboro, is very involved in the life of the town. They host concerts and they hosted the Overflow Shelter this winter. There are churches of all sorts of denominations in the area. And there are also non-denominational churches. There is a very active inter-faith community. And, as I wrote previously, I have friends who homeschooled their son. The son has been accepted at a good university.
I'm sure you'll find some like-minded people here. There are all sorts of people, and there is a lot of tolerance for those who differ. Vernon, a town at the very southeastern corner of Vermnt, is, I am told, very conservative. Of course, there is a nuke plant there, so that may be an issue for you. It would be for me, but I don't think Brattleboro would be a whole lot safer than Vernon if something bad happened at the nuke plant.
You can ask questins on ibrattleboro.com and iputney.com.
I did a lot of my research prior to moving here by asking questions on ibrattleboro.com.

I will try and check out vernon thanks, I usually stay in wardsboro or jamaica and love it there because of the nice people on the left and right and because of the Grout Pond

I remember you wrote about Grout pond on an old thread about places to go swimming.
I will check out Grout Pond when it gets a little warmer.
I will also check out Spofford Lake, about 15 minutes away on Route 9, on the way to Keene. And I will check out Harriman Reservoir.
I've already seen Lake Raponda. It's really nice, but I think the beach is restricted to Wilmington residents.
The municipal pool at the Living Memorial Park is opening very soon.
And there is the Colonial Inn and Spa, with a huge lap pool and swimming school. I want to improve my swimming so I can feel more confident when kayaking. It's expensive, though, but it also has some aerobic equipment, a sauna, a steam bath, and even a hot tub and jacuzzi (which I probably won't use). I have fitness equipment at home, so it's a better use of resources to join the pool than to join a gym. There are two gyms in Brattleboro - Outer Limits and Supreme Fitness. There's also a Curves, I think. There's a Y in Keene, with a pool, but that's about a half hour away.
People also swim in the West River. (Funny, in New York City, no one swims in the East River).
I also want to check out the towns along Route 30. I haven't even been to Newfane yet. I plan to go to their flea market one Sunday. I'll eventually make it to Jamaica.
I still have to get myself to Burlington one weekend. I haven't been to Burlington in years and years. The place has changed tremendously since I've been there. I want to see the waterfront and Church Street.
I haven't seen much of Vernon, but, apart from the nuke plant, I think it's pretty nice. I thnk it's very rural. I've also heard heard that real estate prices are lower there than they are in some other places in the area. I wonder if that is because of the nuke plant.
