I was at Field Days this morning dropping off an art entry...soggy here and there, hopefully today dried things out a bit. Yes Dunmore and East Middlebury and Ripton and other places had a rough year last year with rains. Will be interesting to see how August goes.

Set up our booth at Field Days this afternoon. Mostly dry with a few soggy patches. Should be very fine by tomorrow. If those predicted "isolated thunderstorms" don't bring much rain.

No rain today (yet). Went to Spofford Lake over the river in Chesterfield, NH. Swam in the lake. Read and socialized on the beach. Ate pizza, kielbasa dog, popcorn and ice cream from the concession.

Right now, this is my favorite place to swim. I visited a couple of swimming holes in the past few weeks. Pretty. Pleasant to look at and hang out on. But I prefer swimming in a lake to swimming in a river. I don't understand the allure of swimming holes, except that they are pretty. Maybe that's the allure.

But right now, because of all the rain, there are concerns about current. And my friend, who loves to swim, said the water at the Townsend Dam was muddy.

I also find walking on all those rocks annoying. But I was trying to negotiate them in my water sandals. I've taken out my old surf shoes, and they seemed to work well at the lake. Not a lot of rocks there, but I experimented by walking on some rocks in the parking lot and entrance. I'll use them next time I visit a swimming hole.

I plan to check out the Harriman Reservoir and Grout Pond when I can. And Townsend Dam and that Dam in Guilford. But so far, I like Spofford Lake best.

It looks like good weather this week, for the most part.

Maybe August will finally give us some good summer weather for outdoor fun.
