What is Your Favorite Part of Vermont?
Quickdraw's answer to a post gave me an idea.
What is your favorite part/area of Vermont-we may have done this already but it was a few years back.
I have so many areas that I love, but if one had to stand out it would be the Northeast Kingdom. Maybe it's because I grew up there, but to me, it reminds me of the old Vermont and the scenery is just gorgeous. Lake Willoughby, Burke, the back roads through Barnet/Peacham/Danville. Canaan and neighbor Pittsburg NH....aaaahhh.
Other areas I love are Route 100 in the Rochester area (gorgeous), Burlington, and the Stowe area. Middlebury is another gem.

Please, don't anybody say "been there, done that" and provide an old link. Let's get a new conversation started. When someone provides an old link,
the thread dies.

As mentioned, I love the Mad River Valley-so rolling and peaceful. Waitsfield to Warren
I love the natural beauty around Dorset- The out of staters with cash maintain the area beautifully too.
Burlington -vibrant city in gorgeous surroundings with Lake and Adirondacks.
Bristol is a little gem. Cool, quirky, self efficient little town near gorgeous Lincoln Gap. Love the falls just north of the city.

I really like the NEK the best. (Primarilly becuase it has not been "taken over" as much by outsiders. It retains the more traditional rural VT feel in most ways. My first VT experience was a visit up through St. Johnsbury and Lyndonville. That part of the state is just very scenic. Don't forget about Burke Mountain!.

I think my favorite part is Grand Isle. I lived there for a number years and thought it pretty much paradise. I'm now down in Norfolk VA. A very far cry from my beloved VT.

I'm sorry to say I haven't seen as much of VT as I want to. When I was a young man, I stayed on lake dunmore for two weeks and had the time of my life. Middlebury is awesome. Now years later, my family and I came up to lake bomoseen on vacation. We had intended to go to dunmore again, but we couldn't afford to rent there at the time, so we ended up at bomoseen. The first night we fell in love with the lake. We now own a house on the lake for three years and love every minute we are there. We came up on december the first year and took a trip down route 100 south to the vt country store. Loved the scenic ride. We also drove up 30 to ben and jerry's in march this year and it was also amazing, but with all the beautiful places in vt I still love the veiw off my deck. It is the only place i want to be.

Northeast Kingdom. More rural, less flatlanders, more of the "real" Vermont to me...

Montpelier. I'm a townie. Love quirky small towns with plenty of nature nearby. That's my kind of town.
