Seems that the Congressman has voted in favor of Cap and Trade; people in VT (and in the US) are paying quite a lot for energy as it is now, how many of us will be able to afford it if Cap and Spend makes it through the Senate?

They're even going to tax anyone going off grid...federal permits to put in any solar power system...

But I expected him to vote for it, he just follows the party line on these things. He didn't even read it.

I wonder how many of the reps actually did read it?

This is going to be passed onto all of us by all business -- schools and such, too. No one is untouched by this tax.

None of them, there wasn't even a complete single copy of it available to read...

Vote went against according to what I heard today from Sen. Jim Inhofe's office.

Our rep, a D, was on the fence. He got a few million phone calls, and since he replaced a conservative R, somehow,
I guess when he felt the heat he saw the light.

The increased costs which the cap and trade scheme will usher in spells bad economic news for Vermont. Forget the wishful green jobs and industry promises, the reality will be that energy costs and therefore everything else will substantially begin to increase at a time when we have never been so fiscally stretched before. When recovery begins, which probably now will be even more delayed due to numerous factors, we as a state will lag behind basically ensuring that tax revenue and investment dollars will be spent elsewhere. Regarding Congressman Welch. Why bother contacting him as he was fully aware and cognizant of his intended vote, hence by him reading or not reading the entire bill would have made no difference as vote by ideology is the rule regardless of the consequences.

Default Very few, if any

[quote=OhBeeHave;9486811]I wonder how many of the reps actually did read it?

quote]

How many reps read the bank/auto/investment firm bailout bills?

How many reps read the entire stimulous bill?

How many reps have met with economists to determine how long it will take and how much taxes will have to be raised on EVERYONE to pay off all the debt that's been incurred in the last few months of the Bush administration and the first few months of the Obama administration.

I'm beyond angry at this point. I feel like the government has raided my bank account, my kids' bank accounts, my grand-kids' bank accounts, etc.

I don't spend money I don't have even if it means doing without vacations, driving a 12-year-old car, buying used clothes. What gives the government the right to be so irresponsible with its finances?

OK, I stand corrected. BAD BAD LAW.

Must be stopped in the senate.
