Default Anybody in/near Rupert, VT?

My family has just relocated to the southern VT area for employment in Manchester. We're looking for property within a 20-30 minute commute from Manchester and have discovered the small town of Rupert. It's an attractive, small town, the folks seem friendly enough the few times we've visited, it seems as though it would be a nice place to raise our pre-school aged kids, and in general just gives me "good vibes", even though there doesn't appear to be too much going on there as far as goods and services goes.
I'm wondering if anyone is willing to share any information - good, bad, or ugly - about this town. Anything about the community, pros/cons about growing up and or living there, current school/social/political issues, etc. I'm mostly just looking for some local flavor and will appreciate any information or advice. Thanks!

I don't know much about the town, but I spent a fair amount of time there several years ago. A good friend of mine had a camp there. All I can go by is what I saw at the time. It's a very small town (pop. less than 1000) with few services. I had the feeling it was mostly camps in the area. Look at all you will need in an area this small. Will you be willing to travel 20-30 min to get a few groceries or odds and ends if the local store is closed? Also look at healthcare. I'm sure there are local doctors offices, but I needed to go to the hospital for some stitches and we had to drive about twenty miles into New York for the closest hospital. Our other option at the time was Rutland, but it was about thirty miles away. It's a beautiful area in the state, but look at what you are willing to sacrifice to live there.
