Default Looking to Move NORTH for relaxation and business

Hello I am 30 yr old young man looking to get out of the hustle and fast pace of the city. I am looking to move upstate NY, Maine, Vt, or even NH. I really love the adirondacks area and New England areas, but I dont believe there are enough jobs there. I am an entrepreneur owning a few businesses. I currently own an indoor skatepark, skateboard company, skateboard hardware company, and skateboard bearing company. I would love to continue what I am doing now. If you know of a place that has alot of children that skateboard/rollerblade/bike and are in need of an indoor skatepark facility, please let me know. I would also be looking for an affordable warehouse, house, and possible rental units to rent. I may be interested in buying a bar/restaurant because the NORTH needs great Pizza!!!

Contact me if you can help:

Chester, VT has an outdoor skateboard park; the Town received a grant from the Tony Hawk foundation to help with the new design.

I've lived in VT my entire life and if you are looking for a lot of kids Burlington, VT might be your best bet. It's the biggest city in VT. VT itself has very small towns and cities so you might want to check it out before making the big move.

Burlington is the biggest area, but you will run into a bit of competition. Unless you can keep your prices cheaper than the competition or at least have a better indoor park it will be a tough sell. Each town in the area also has outdoor parks which are free and they all seem like nice parks. Burlington would be your best bet in Vermont, but do some research to see if you will be able to compete with the local shops and skate parks.
My son skateboards and I just asked him his opinion. He said that if it was in a decent location(easy to get to) and the prices are good he would check it out.
Once you get north of Mass. the population gets very small. Your best bet would be in one of the larger cities or towns.

The Burlington area already has an indoor skate park - Talent Skate Park- not sure if hte area is big enough to support 2.

I agree. It would have to be a better skate park or at least be as good and cheaper to skate at.

Also, before making the move you need to look into the taxes in VT. VT is insanely high because us working folk have to pay for all the welfare benefits this state LOVES to give out. I have a $200k home and pay $5100 a year in taxes and that's in Barre. Burlington would be even higher. Also, the state tax is very high as well and the overall cost of living just sucks. Vermont doesn't like it when difference larger company's come into but at the same time us Vermonters cant keep paying higher taxes to support the lack of tax money coming in. IBM has dropped from 10k people 5k people in less then ten years and they are trying to sell the place. Once IBM leaves Vermont is screwed as that is the biggest company. I love Vt and have lived here my entire life but the social welfare and taxes are just making this place impossible to live in. I work for the State of VT and haven't lost my job (YET) and we have been told that people are coming to VT because the welfare is better. Now with all the new programs like Catamount coming in it's getting worst. Just some info for you and it's my opinion so take it or leave it. Good luck!
