Please help with relocation info.
My good friend wants to relocate to white river junction or rutland
possibly over to NH side of WRJ .
Anyone know which area's have the most culture, nightlife, and
have low crime and don't flood?
Also which area's might have night bus service or amtrak?
He's a vegatarian and so good places to eat is a must
also a movie buff any towns have good theaters or plays?

Your friend would probably be better off in Burlington...if he has money.
Brattleboro might be a good idea, I don't know about bus service though.

Hey Carl, I'm glad to hear your friend is considering a move to Vermont. However, I agree with Quickdraw that Burlington might be a better match for him. I think that your friend's interests would more closely match what Burlington offers. I'm not too familiar with WRJ, but I live very close to Rutland, and although I like Rutland I don't think that it would be able to provide your friend with the services and entertainment he is looking for.

Nightlife in WRJ? Non existent.
No, wait, there is a bowling alley. not sure about clubs or bars. Downtown is kind of seedy so maybe they have something?
I have to say your friend will be quite bored here. My husband is a vegetarian and we have a nice organic coop but I don't know of any specific vegetarian places.
Honestly, this is a family type area. I don't see how any single people could do much around here. So many things are build around school events or maybe church events.

It's funny how we think we can research a place on the internet and speculate where we want to live. I was sure that I'd want to move to St. Albans. It had a decent size main street, rare for this part of the state, and was considerably cheaper than the towns in Chittenden county. It was also closer to Montreal. I decided the one town I wouldn't live in was Williston. I was on the highway to Burlington and saw the Home Depot among other large stores. I checked to see what town I was in, and made a mental note not to move there. I was really open to anywhere but Williston.
I got here and told my realtor that I wanted to live in St. Albans. She told me I wouldn't, but I was adamant about it. We went up to look at a house and that was enough of a visit for me.
And sure enough, I ended up in Williston.

WRJ doesn't have much of what you are looking for. There is a bus station there tho, maybe amtrak but I'm not sure. Rutland has movies, a new theater, art galleries, amtrak, an easy comute to more culture in Manchester VT, Saratoge NY etc. There are also 2 lakes to the West of Rutland abt 20 - 30 mins drive. I live in Pawlet abt 40 mins to Rutland, also a nice place but rural. We have an awesome elementary school. Lots of great houses for sale here right now. Google Pawlet and Rutland, check it all out, way better than WRJ. Just my opinion.

There's Amtrak in WRJ though it is slow...took us a ridiculously long time to get from WRJ to NYC...
By car it's 5-6 hours...think it was double that...
