Question Train to Shelburne?

Are there trains that go from NYC to Shelburne? What airport would be nearby?

The airport on this end is Burlington International.

The train used to go from Essex Junction. Either to Montreal or perhaps to NYC. I'd check with Amtrack, but it's doubtful Amtrack still runs to NYC. Few people would take it I suspect, since flying Jet Blue from Burlington to NYC is now so cheap and easy.

Let us know what you find out, will you?

David

Passenger trains don't run through Shelburne. The route of the Vermonter is from Montreal through Essex Jct., Montpelier, White River Junction, Brattleboro, New Haven, New York, and Washington D.C. There have been attempts at a commuter train from Burlington to Shelburne, but those have fizzled. The last scheduled through traffic in Shelburne? I guess that would have been about 1977 when the bicentennial steam train was making runs to Rutland and back. That was a fun ride.

FWIW, the route up the west side of the lake is the better route between NYC and Montreal. Nearly water level most of the way.

www.jetblue.com You can get really decent fares to fly from JFK to Burlington. As noted above, trains really are not a great option.
