what to do with a family in the area? we'll just be there over the weekend, renting a house. We went last year and had a blast but i don't want to do the same things

you can take them on a train ride on the Green Mountain Railroad...Bellows Falls to Chester VT....kinda hokey, but kids like it. Canoe ride on the CT River in Brattleboro. The corn maze will be at Adams Farm if you haven't tried that. Visit the
Mount Snow Valley Chamber of Commerce If you click on Attractions, you can find children's activities and maybe get some ideas.

Adams Farm should be a hit; my youngest loved it when she was 7. Green Mountain Flyer Fall Trains (http://www.rails-vt.com/gmf/gmf_fall_09.html - broken link) If you do this, opt for the antique car. Pack a lunch, too. Otherwise you can buy something to eat during the brief stop in Chester Depot. Lisai's market makes some decent sandwiches, sells ice cream, candy and such.
