Hunting and fishing in VT
As the new seasons Begin, I was wondering how the scouting and general atmosphere in VT is. With the fishing starting and turkey season upon us. Has anyone been out, or plan on going out to enjoy the outdoors, with a sporting nature? ( And yes nature watching and hiking is an outside sport)And if so What will you go for. GREAT TROUT FISHING or HUNTING in general? What will you be using? Bow , Riffle, Shotgun, Brook pole, or a Fly rod? Input in general on how you enjoy the Great outdoors in VT.

Nice where abouts do you go for Bass? I know lots of spots in VT for trout( OK Some really Nice Rainbow trout) 16 Inches and up. But what about the bass? As cold as the water gets I never really thought of bass. Aside from the rock bass at Marshfield Dam In Cabot.

What kind of bass? Small mouth, or large mouth? Did you hear The state of VT just stocked some Trophy Trout, in the Passumpsic river by St. J. They had an article in todays Caledonian Record. I believe the link is www.caledonianrecord.com But I myself have always liked to fish that river. Just drive down the dirt road on the back side and stop to fish. Get some really nice smelt there as well 1 was almost 12 inches. Great fishing there.

I believe Knapp Pond (there are two or three portions of Knapp Pond) in Cavendish is/are known for excellent fishing as is the Black River which is stocked at the beginning of the season...already I see the Black River peppered with fly-fisherpersons and they are catching......the Black River eventually flows into the CT River.

So all the lakes and rivers are doing good with the fishing this year. OK, if we grab our rods and head out by lunch we should have our limit. Than again even if not bad day fishing, better than a good day working. LOL Has anyone gone up owls head yet this year? I noticed Camel's Hump is Very active with hikers already, but owls head seems quiet so far. Or is it just Groton State Forest don't get active til Tourist season starts?
