According to trends forecaster Gerald Celante more and more in the years to come people especially the young in their mid-20's will begin to move back to small towns.So the time is now to buy land and move to more rural areas.
If you had to choose where would you go to finish your day(i am 39 and i am looking for a place to take roots),therefore it must be the absolute right choice.
So again if you have to chose between:
The Glens Falls area-Queesbury-Lake George vs Vermont i.e
(Shelburne,south Burlington,Charlotte,middlebury,Stowe,Arlington, Woodstock and brattleboro),witch one would you choose?

There are so many little pieces of haven in Vermont that the match-up is really between Glens Falls vs the entire state of Vermont.Let's face it the only reason why people haven't relocated in mass to Vermont is because of the 4 months of atrocious and viciously brutal winters we have to endure in this area(montreal as the same weather as Burlington) and those equally unbearable muggy summers,otherwise VT would be the california of the north because of it sheer beauty and desirable lifestyle.
I guest after having answer this question,i will have to find out witch in all these great VT. towns are the best?(if vt win's)

Glens Falls area by a long shot. Better economy, better lakes, and bigger mountains. I'd consider being a bit South on 87 make the Albany area commute a bit closer if needed and the big lakes/mountains a bit further but still an easy ride. IMO I doubt young people are going to move en mass to the country, but that is just my guess.

Upstate NY (Saratoga area) would be my choice over VT. Saratoga has SPAC, shopping, great restaurants, etc. yet 10 miles out there is plenty of open space. Southern VT, although quite beautiful and quaint, lacks shopping areas and economic growth, which forces many people travel to Saratoga just to go to a Target.

mustmove and ellwood thank you for your input,
it is very hard to choose between these 2 great states or rather i should say BTW VT and the western new york area.Their geography is of equal beauty ,so therefore the separation must be made over the details of every day life like the economy and the availability of shopping,restaurants,bars ect.
I can see how bothersome it must be in the winter if one needs to go shopping to have to travel far just to go to a discount store.

Another great place in the New York area is the Capital District area near Albany. One of the towns I really love over there is Altamont. There is a mix of rural, suburban and when you want it the city of Albany is about 15-20 minutes away. You have the mountains, Towns with a New England look and feel and a more mild winter. It's like the best of both worlds.
