You keep talking about out of state groups like Greenpeace, but this is far from accurate. Greenpeace may have had some small role in it, but the opposition came primarily from local environmental groups, including many people who live in the vicinity of VY and who have been working in opposition to the plant for decades. You may know that Peter Shumlin, who led the opposition to VY in the Senate, was born in Brattleboro and has lived most of his life in Putney, not far from Vermont Yankee.

And it won't have the benefit of glowing in the dark, either. Sad.

A lot, that's one thing you can depend on.

BTW, I saw the clip on national news. Those VT ledgies are sure a dumb looking bunch. Just an independent observation.
If you think that's bad, you should see the Burlington City Council. Looks like a frat party.

Not saying there wasn't local opposition, but greenpeace bussed in a large portion of the crowd at the statehouse for that vote, and that kind of thing really bugs me...

Every time I here someone hate on the French, I remind them of two things,
1) The French won the Revolutionary War for us,
and, more importantly,
2) they sunk a Greenpeace boat (unfortunately no one was on board).

Did these numbnuts politicians bother to check with the utilities about importing 600 ADDITIONAL megawatts of power over their transmission system ? Do these lines have that much capacity available ? I have found over the years that PSC members aren't the most technically minded people , they just tell the voters what they want to hear .
Small increase in rates ? Another fallacy . Good luck on this one .

Even tho 71% of the Vermonters surveyed recently do not support a VY contract extension it might be the NRC that does the job of shutting down this disaster.

And Bernie gets re-elected by 2-1 margins. I don't doubt that 71% of VTers want Yankee shut down. Folks considering moving to VT need to understand that it is rainbows and taxes first prosperity third, I think the chipmunks have second.
