Anyone know of any good Asian restaurants in VT (particulary Vietnamese food)? I'm really craving it (blaming it on my pregnancy hormones, lol). Where can I find good spring rolls, pho, general tso's chicken? Please help this crazy pregnant woman!!!

The Single Pebble in Btown is very good. I also like the Orchid in South Burlington but it's a buffet, some don't like those.

I wouldn't call Orchid/East Orchid good food... but it's cheap, and it's buffet, so it's always a treat for the quantity, which you may be looking for if you're pregnant. A Single Pebble is pretty good, but slightly more expensive. I also like Joyce's Noodle House in Essex.

As far as Vietnamese goes, I only know Vietnam Restaurant on Pearl Street in Essex Junction near the Champlain Valley Expo. It is pretty good and has a very extensive menu.

I second A Single Pebble. You'll need to make a reservation. My other favorite chinese restaurant is Silver Palace on Williston Rd in South Burlington (in the same building as Higher Ground). Not quite A Single Pebble caliber, but many steps above Orchid and other chinese in the area. I wouldnt eat at Orchid....eew. Check out Seven Days from a week or two ago about their workers and housing situation.

You didn't say where you are in VT -- but just over the border at the southern end, so to speak, in Amherst (MA) is a small Vietnamese community and a good restaurant.

In Brattleboro, there is a very good Chinese Restaurant off Putney Road in the north end of town. I think it is called Panda North, but I'm not sure.

Downtown, next to Pliny Park, there is a good Thai restaurant. I think it is called Thai Garden. Very good food, but the portions are small.

I don't know of any Vietnamese restaurants in Brattleboro. But you are 4-5 hours away from NYC, where there are plenty of them. Boston's closer, and it probably has some, too.

Another vote for Single Pebble, but there's a new Vietnamese restaurant as well. It's in Winooski on the highway headed toward Colchester. Here's a link: 7 Nights: Guide to Vermont Restaurants and Bars
