How fitting for a Microsoft game. I'm almost all the way through it, but I don't believe I'll bother finishing it for a while, because it's so remarkably cheap and repetitive. Not only do rooms closely resemble each other from one to another in a long series, but they actually have the gaul to make you play back though some of them! Seriously?! Well...I guess if one regards Halo as a metaphor for Microsoft's series of OS's, then it's actually right on par...

Are you playing the first one? It's definitely the most repetitive of the lot and it gets better in the other two. I don't love Halo but I do like it, I like to go through the stories, have you tried playing through the story with friends? That's definitely where the most fun is for me. As for being cheap, depends on what difficulty you're on I guess, unless you mean it looks cheap lol.

Pretty much this. Halo 1 was the most repetitive of the series by far.

To be fair, Halo 1 is almost 10 years old - it was pretty fun when it first came out, but obviously has been surpassed by many other games since its release. Like others, I like the split screen co-op so I can play with my wife - unfortunately with the rise of online play this feature is becoming less and less common, with some notable exceptions (Borderlands, Gears of War, etc).

^ This....however I always wondered would Halo be any good as an RPG? So much of Mass Effect reminds me of Halo....Master Chief and John Shepherd are basically on the same mission (kinda) fighting Geth and fighting the flood

Yes, I'm referring to the first one: Halo. No, I have not tried playing through the story with friends -- I did not know that was possible.

By cheap I mean in SP they recycled the same components in room after room, then have you play through the same rooms in reverse order (fighting the Flood the second time as opposed to the Covenant).

Cheap!

p.s. Yes, the game is old, but that's no excuse. In Jedi Knight (1997), for example, the gameplay did not get nearly as repetitive, and they didn't have you replay back through the same route. Same can be said of quite a few FPS games that predate Halo.

Yeah, even when it first came out not too many people were so impressed with having to replay certain sections like that, but I wouldn't be so hard on reused tile sets, every game does that to a certain extent. But yeah, definitely try playing through the story on co op, it's way more fun, and Halo 2 and 3 both get way more fun than 1 so keep going it gets better.
