Probably because your teams air support is doing their job. Otherwise good jet pilots rape tanks all day, atleast on the PC as long as they have someone spotting

If you play against a good pilot it would cause havoc. I played against a team with a good jet pilot. This guy blew up every vehicle that we entered.

So that is a myth. Jet do work very well.
