Archeage ranks as my all time favorite sandbox that literally has it all. Housing, open world pvp, arena pvp, flying, air ships, wide range of ships, naval battles, diving, underwater zones, crafting, 3 factions, pirates, farming, cottages to mansions, castle sieges and ownership, husbandry, mounts, vehicles, guild politics, trade routes, thriving economy and auction house, everything.
Unfortunately it is also one of the top games completely ruined by cash shop greed and incompetent publishers that allowed hackers, bugs, dupes, china bots and scammers take over.
I haven't looked at a video game in a quarter century, but I grew up in the 80s - the golden age of arcade games - and so:
Defender
Donkey Kong
Arkanoid
Joust
Zaxxon
With special mention:
Tron
Elevator Action (particularly mindless, I know, but I had a lot of fun with that one)
Xenophobe (yeah, this one is inexplicable, too - but I loved it!)
Galaga
Birdie King
I played game through the 80s to today. I'm going to say. . as of right now:
Shadow of Mordor
Street Fighter IV
Hearthstone
Batman Arkham City
Super Mario 3D Land WII U
