Because they're thirty odd years older now ?
Those older boxes where badass at the time, I loved them but anything beyond that is just emotions. Theyre pure garbage by today's standards. WHy play a game on the phone and not on C64 ? Cause I dont have to put a tape in my phone and listen to it load for ten minutes and have a seizure at the flashing screen then start all over again because it failed lol

Heck you can get an emulator and play a lot of those games on the phone/tablet. But a proper gaming PC is still the way to go.

I don't get the question.

In my experience growing up in the 80's, my parents just weren't going to go ought and buy my brother and I every 2-500 system everytime we wanted to. So if you got a system you were committed to it and barring anything but a completely horrible experience you were loyal to that brand. Anybody with an offbrand system got made fun of, got picked on or into fights...

But seriously. The "buy-in" on a phone is a lot cheaper since everybody has a smartphone and getting a new game is quick and easy.

Well in the 80s my mom and dad LOVED Atari 2600,they played constantly!!

My aunt played COLECOVISION all the time.....

Now they want nothing to do with them... They play these games which I think are horrible compared to Atari 2600 and Coleco stuff!! (Which I still play and love)

People have been so dumbed down AND ITS QUITE SAD!!

People have been dumbed down because they don't like the same things you like?

I was a little lost on the question as well. Im old school, but I started in Gen 3. The OP seems to be talking about Gen 1-2 systems the ones that caused the CRASH. I totally get the brand loyalty in gaming though. Some like to say its stupid, I think owning every and all things is waste, but everyone is different. When I look back at Gen 5 & 6 I think tons of people wasted a lot of money back then. I think many of these phone games are a waste. I also think their needs to be some diversity in game development.
