Having never played the original N64 Super Smash Brothers or its GameCube sequel Melee I wasn’t really looking forward to their successor. I only purchased
Super Smash Bros. Brawl because Radio Shack had it on sale for just $30 and I wanted another game with on-line capabilities to play on my Wii.
Now that the point is clear please allow me to say that Brawl is an absolute BLAST and I’m really happy I picked it up. Granted it took me a little while to get used to its play mechanics having been raised on such fighting game milestones as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. After a short while, however, I learned to just let go of my old notions of what a fighting game should be and embrace Brawl’s sublime simplicity.
I could write volumes about what Brawl is and how it plays but I thought it’d just be easier to link to a longish video segment that is unintentionally funny and explains it all.
