Boggling decision considering its success. I have never seen one at retail.

Yeah only rationalization I've seen is they don't like that people are hacking them or that one of the licensing deals on the games fell through.

I would have bought one. But the near impossibility of doing so finally pushed me to just make an emulator using Retropie on a raspberry pi.

If they make an SNES Classic, I'd be so down.

Ironically, a lot of people probably purchased a Raspberry Pi and put Retropie on it because of the NES Classic Edition.

I figured they were already discontinued since they've been pretty non-existant in the stores here for months now. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen one on the shelf around here since the initial release. Ever.

Either way, no surprise to me. Nintendo isn't known for making the best decisions. They have a habit in recent years of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I know one person who finally managed to buy one at retail the other day out of the dozens and dozens I know who wanted one. Mind boggling decision. I assume they were making a profit on them (as there would have been no point in selling them at a loss to begin with with no future games purchases). And given there success they probably could have raised the price anyways. I don't see it as competition for the Switch (I already own and xbox one and have zero interest in another major console). Nintendo seems to not like money for some reason.
