I'm more of a social geek. While I have and still enjoy my SNES and PC games I kind of want more.

Ideas...

Barcades
Video arcades
Board game groups
Card game groups
Gaming lounges

Am I forgetting anything?

Board game groups, card game groups, and gaming lounges don't interest me. Regular arcades I think are cool, but no one else my age does.

Barcades are chill, but there aren't many in California

I guess mini golf places with arcades are a close second. Seems to be plenty of those in CA.

Maybe comic book stores? Other than a guest writer here and there what else do comic book stores have going for social activities?

I checked out Fry's Electronics just for the novelty of it. Their stuff isn't bad, but these days, I try not to buy too much crap. Plus, what little I do buy, Amazon and Ebay usually have me covered.

Other POI... BarCraft (A bar where they serve drinks, and put up StarCraft 2 matches on the telly). Or some vg/geek museum. I don't know of any of these specifically. Well, in NorCal, there was the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA.

There are numerous board gaming and video conventions throughout the year, but they're not everyday. Annually or several times a year at best.
