Mario Kart Series
Which one is your favorite?
I love the one for Wii but dont own it.. It was one of those things where you rent it once, like it, and keep renting it where you could have just purchased it the first time I recently purchased the DS version, but it frankly seems to hard. you can "snake" and you cant just jump in and play like the others. Overall though, Mario Kart 64 is still my all time favorite

Dude, you left of the original Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo! That one is my favorite! (Though mostly for sentimental reasons. Probably my favorite to play is the one for the 64.)

Kart of Gold
I believe the Wii version is the best thanks to the nearly lag-free on-line play. Ironically I like Mario Kart 64 so much that Mario Raceway is my favorite track in Mario Kart Wii.
All the Mario Kart games are good except for maybe Super Circuit for the Gameboy which is plagued with horrible controls.
The good news, however, is that Mario Kart 64 can be downloaded to the Wii’s Virtual Console for just 10 bucks and Double Dash is also playable on the Wii thanks to backwards compatibility with GameCube software.

The original on Super NES and Wii are the only 2 I've ever played. Like Jillaceae, I think I like the original for sentimental reasons, but it's hard to beat Mario Kart Wii.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the Wii version as it combines some of the best elements from the original and the N64 version to create a familiar yet surprisingly fresh new Mario Kart experience. It also allows you to use the Classic as well as the GameCube controller if you don’t want to use the Wii-wheel that comes packed in with the game.

That's good to know, just in case. I'm usually good with any controller, as long as I get to practice it.

I've really only played 2. I currently have Mario Kart Wii and I used to play the original Mario Kart for SNES back in the day.
Fundamentally it's still the same basic game but the addition of the wireless remotes with accelerometers has made it so much more fun than before. I think it's cool that on the Wii version you've got new tracks and you can also go back and race on the tracks from previous console versions.
