I want to say Halo: Combat Evolved for the Xbox. A simply awesome multiplayer game, just like its successors. Modern Warfare 2 would be #1 if there was a better variety of maps available for online play..

Although in terms of hours waste.. er.. spent on a game, Sim City 4 + thousands of custom addons would probably take the cake for me, followed by Fable:TLC or GTA:SA.

I vote Psychonauts for Xbox. Here are some runners up:

We Love Katamari (PS2) -- old-fashioned stress-free mindless insane arcade fun of the decade

Forza 3 (360) -- driving game of the decade

Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction (PS3) -- 3D action game of the decade

Unreal Tournament III (PC) -- first person shooter of the decade (but the online server support, clan community, and user mod support is about one-tenth what the original Unreal Tournament, released in late 1999, had)

Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) -- platformer of the decade

Advance Wars Dual Strike (DS) -- handheld of the decade
