I went to an estate sale today and they had tons of tapes for 50 cents apiece...
including one 1950s movie [now out of production] that I have been wanting for years.
Amazon sells vintage copies of it for $20 and up.... but I paid 50 cents.

Yep. Facets rents a lot of art product and with some of it you have to be willing to go with the VCR tapes and pay for extra shipping costs. A lot of releases never generated enough interest to make them financially viable for subsequent release.

I have some great movies I taped from TV over a decade ago, that can not be found anywhere.

Technically speaking VHS is not in the same ballpark as the best available on DVD. Having said that many releases simply weren't encoded very well especially if they were early releases.
Nothing beats a good VCR. Scre w you bluray and hd video!!
