im a vlogger that moves a lot - I have a d3100 nikon now but its auto focus is not good at all when I move. also it has no mic and no swivel screen
was wondering if you guys can recommend a SLR camera that has very nice HD video (d3100 i rank it like 6/10 for video) with a swivel screen for vlogs and mic output preferably XLR that would be awesome!
my budget is about 800 bucks - of course lower price the better. I saw a lumix 300fz??? its like 400, but not sure if the auto focus is quick enough for me. problem i have with the d3100 is its slow to auto focus in video mode
Sell that camera and you'll get at least $200. Use that along with your budget and get yourself a Nikon D7100. I dont know much about Nikons as I am a Canon guy myself, but also take into consideration that the lens you use will also have some effect on focus speed.
I dont know of any DSLR with swivel screen. Maybe they exist, but I dont know of any.

The D5500 at $750 has a swivel screen in DX format. I'm a Canon shooter, so I can't say from any experience how good the Nikon is for focusing, but facial recognition/follow focus has been around for a while--it should be okay.
It does have touch-screen focusing, which I have found a nifty feature on my Canon 70D. As a practical matter, I find that a swivel screen is much better for touch-screen focusing because with the screen out on the swivel, the vibration of the touch is not transferred to the camera, even if hand-holding it.
You're not going to find any DSLR with XLR inputs. Not happening. However, you can find (and I'd recommend) adapters and recorders with XLR inputs in form-factors suitable for attaching to a DSLR. Some are merely adapters that take the XLR input and translates it to a 3mm out put to plug into the camera. I personally like the Tascam 60D MkII recorder, which can do that...but is much better using it as a recorder. As a recorder, it has much more ability to manipulate the sound, a much better preamp...and you can pipe the sweetened signal into the camera and record it separately in the recorder.

The problem with an SLR is the the mirror has to be locked up to shoot video and you have to view the LCD which can be difficult if you are hand holding or in bright sunlight. No problem if your on a tripod, stabilizer etc...
SLR cameras are not meant for continues recording at all. Only the recent $4000 cameras are able to do stereo. They just keep adding these functions to the cameras to make you buy them at these rates. You can use a cellphone that records at 1080p at least and use an outside recording device. Then just glue the two together.
Otherwise I highly suggest investing a recent 4k model. Again do not go for photography cameras when it comes to recording at all. It is fail at the moment.
some top vloggers like Canon 70D a lot due to its impressive AF system.
