I made some short videos (less than 3 minutes each) of my kid's performance last night with my new digital camera.
I copied the files from the card to my computer, but when I attempted to play them, they played for about 15 seconds then I got an error message about buffer size and it shut down the show. I increased the buffer size re: Windows Help and installed an update for Quicktime. Same problem, but now I get a message that there is an error and if a solution is found... yadayadayada. Then I click ok and the window closes. Please tell me I didn't lose last night's precious performance!
I agree with Tek_Freek. Buffer size is a computer performance issue. It sounds like the computer either doesn't have enough horsepower to play your video files or you are running too many other applications at the same time you're attempting to play them.
I'm not running any other applications. I have free McAfee via comcast. I have 1982 MB of RAM, computer says I have 173GB of 222GB available on drive C:, 3.52GB free of 9.99GB on drive D:

I have the newest computer of anyone I know (purchased 11-07). The biggest video file is 84KB. What more will I need?
The specs are fine - the program you are using may not be working correctly. Try another one, like videolanclient - if your camera takes videos in a typical file format, it will play just fine.
If you continue to get these errors, you may have some bad ram (memory). There are things you can do to check this. First, try out videolanclient. videolan.org

84KB sounds really small for a video file. In addition to the other suggestions, I would suggest trying to get them off the camera again. Maybe the file transfer was corrupted.
The movie did play back on my camera, the problem occurred with QuickTime. The program CU recommended works great!
I was looking at getting a second memory card, and saw that this problem happens once in awhile when a card is going bad. So, I ordered a better, bigger card and will be donating the old one to Goodwill, with a note attached - it'd KILL me to lose anything from our upcoming Disney trip (my and my kid's first time)
