We live in Jersey City, NJ and are planning a weekend trip to see the Caves in Shenandoah region. We think the caves will only take a couple of hours and doing just the caves wouldn't justify the 5 hour drive from home….
Can anybody suggest what else is interesting nearby.

We are 3 months pregnant so we are not going to be able to do stuff like hiking or roller coaster riding.

I would be interested in scenic views, falls, lakes etc… or any other family fun thing…

thanks for your help!!

I'm not from there but have visited a few times. My first suggestion would be Skyline Drive. It has plenty of scenic views of the valley. There are also waterfalls to see, but I'm not sure which ones are closest to the road and don't require much walking. The park rangers could give that information (as well the Internet).

The drive from Luray to Sperryville is nice, with various vendors selling produce, honey, furniture, etc. Sperryville has an antiques market.

There are plenty of fishing opportunities if you're into that.

Luray Caverns has a small antique car museum on the premises, it's ok.

Since you'll be driving some 5 hours to get there, you could go the extra 1.5 hours to Charlottesville and visit Monticello.

There are also many small towns in the area that may be of interest, as well as wineries (one of you could taste test, at least!). Hopefully someone local to the area will chime in with more suggestions. Hope you have a good trip!
