I know I will be early, but am going to be in the Wytheville area around October first. Some areas have been dry, and am wondering if there will be a little fall color begining maybe a little eary this year? Also plan to go to Mt. Rogers.

There should be some. I know last year by the end of September in the Shenandoah Valley there were a few trees in full color. Don't epect it to be dramatic. Just the trees sensitive to the slightest temperature drop will be changing. But in the higher elevations there I wouldn't be surprised to see even more.
