My husband and I are thinking of moving to Mount Crawford, Va. Can anyone tell me about the area?

Mt. Crawford is a very small town on Rt. 11 just outside of Harrisonburg. I believe it has it's own police department, and maybe town council. But I'm really not 100% sure. It may just be an unincorporated town in Rockingham county too. It has a nice little downtown area, primarily old houses, on the main street. There is a book fair every year too which draws people from all over the Shenandoah Valley.(Green Valley Book Fair)

Staunton is 20 minutes south, Harisonburg is 5 minutes north, it's adjacent to the town of Bridgewater. And it's right on i81 with it's own exit. Let us know if you need any more info.

It is primarly a crossroads town. It has a about a 1/2 mile row of old houses along US 11 and a 5 year old housing development on the north end with really nice new houses. It has it's own post office, no police dept. but a couple of county deputies live in the new houses, no grocery store, you will have to go to Harrisonburg ( 5 min.) or Bridgewater ( 3 min.) There are a couple of very popular resturants there and lots of tractor-trailers where US-11 crosses the main road to Bridgewater and I-81. There are lots of houses in the areas away from the road ( in the county) that are still " Mt. Crawford". It's close to many things but you wouldn't know it at first glance.

I liked that little town when I played little league baseball there as a kid. Mt. Crawford Redsox alum here. I know there is a lot of industry/distribution centers just north of town. All in all its a nice place.
