Default Virginia is for lovers....Yeah right

I don't know if the VA Tourism Bureau still has that slogan, but the idea that Virginia is for lovers doesn't make any sense.

VA has to be the worst place in America and throughout the world to find a date, wife, fiance, etc.

I don't know what it is about that place, but VA is definitely not a State for lovers.

The slogan is still in use, and I don't think they mean it in the sense of dating, finding a wife/husband, fiance, etc. The slogan often times is integrated as:

Virginia is for history lovers (Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg)
Virginia is for beach lovers (Virginia Beach)
Virginia is for mountain lovers, and so on...

The Virginia is for Lovers tourism slogan was so popular New York City copied it with "I Love NY" years ago. Being conservative Virginia, at that time the tourism folks didn't want to suggest anything else but lovers of history, beauty, etc. It was really funny but still successful!

What part of Virginia? Virginia has many regions which are quite different from each other, culturally and demographically. Overall, Virginia is evenly balanced between males and females, unlike, for example, places such as NY City/ New England (more women than men) or Alaska (more men than women) or San Francisco (many gay men). The Hampton Roads area I suppose might have many eligible military men. Not sure why Virginia overall would be worse than anywhere else.

I know many people including myself that has had no problem finding a date, wife, fiance or etc. It definitely is not the worst state, easily. Who are you looking for? It's a fact that more than half of all relationships start online these days, why not look into that. Craigslist I'm sure has anybody you might be looking for, and more. You might want to look in the mirror first if you're having such a problem finding love.

I've found plenty of women in VA as well as elsewhere. Usually people complaining about such things have self-conscious problems or something. Keep being that way and leave the ladies for me plx.

Were I not a happily married man, well, lets just say I saw plenty of really attractive women in Virginia. You can figure out the rest.

Cheers! In my region of VA, women out number the men by a few percentage points. My region is far more conservative though that most parts of VA and the average age is in the 40s. Here's one example of a pick-up line a guy used on me:

Guy: What happened to your last boyfriend?

Me: He discovered he was gay.

Guy: I think being gay is the worst sin man can ever commit. If it were up to me, I would castrate all gay people.

Me:

Yeah, I plan on moving out of the region as soon as I graduate and can find another job. As other people have mentioned, the slogan is probably just for the general use of "lovers" (art, history, beach, etc.). I do know of many people who find love in VA.
