I are considering a job offering in Lynchburg VA. We are middle age proffessionals with 2 childrens and would like to move, however we dont know where to start. Currently, we live in Phoenix and is looking for a safe place, near good schools / highschools, decent price. I am looking to find a profile of the area. Basically we are is just looking for some guidance where to live. Should we live in Lynchburg, or others towns ? (i dont even know how far these are away from each other).

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid your question is a bit vague. Everyone wants safe areas, good schools and "decent price". But those are very subjective terms. What I consider a "decent price" might be too high or too low for you. Likewise what I consider a good school could be very different from your opinion. Are you judging just on SAT scores or is there something specific you would be intested in: a sports program, an IB program, etc. You can get that data from Home | Lynchburg City Schools and comparable sites from the surrounding counties (Bedford, Amherst, Campbell, etc)

You also failed to name the other towns you are considering so it's hard to compare or tell you distance.

Since you already have a job offer, the location of that job should be taken into consideration. Lynchburg isn't that big so traffic is not a huge concern but having a short commute is always welcome.

City Data has profiles of towns. Here's the link for Lynchburg http://www.city-data.com/city/Lynchburg-Virginia.html

Good luck.

Lynchburg proper has good areas (west side) and not so good ones (east side). West side has nice older traditional brick homes running from $200,000-$750,000.Good schools. Outside town, Forest is popular and has newer homes in similar price range and good schools.
Jobs for trailing spouse can be a challenge but COL is low.

I am guessing that you had your interview in Lynchburg? Or are we talking about your employer reassigning you to a position in Lynchburg? If the case is the latter I would STRONGLY recomend a visit.

The majority of people I know who have moved here (but not all) and really loves it tend to be very conservative church going people. If you would put yourself in that category you will probably ABSOLUTELY love Lynchburg.

If not, well be VERY careful when you choose neighbourhood etc, etc to make the best out of the situation.

Good luck!
