I couldn't have said it better..Excellent post. I am from NJ and moving to Richmond vicinity, maybe Powhatan and we seem to have a bad reputation here as being snobs. FAR FROM IT..It's more like attitude. Up here and I think I can speak for NY also, it's more of a attitude we MIGHT have. I live in Central NJ and semi rural, it's not all city here and hustle and bustle. We're not two faced and will say it to someones face, I think that's the way we come across. We tend not to keep our mouthes shut and would rather tell someone how we feel in person vs. interent. I have even read a post from a man in VA that said the "ladies are very proper in VA, not like in the North". WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He must be drinkin' some of that moonshine I hear VA makes in the hills! (JOKE) I am sure that is a downright lie. Woman are women anywhere you go. Good, bad, every race, nationality. Same with men. Good bad, all types. I have NEVER heard anyone I know talk about Virginia, Maryland, Delaware in a way that we would be hated there. The point here is I think from what I hear & have read on here and other forums, the South is more bitter towords the North than we are to them. Why all this hatred still? We have a great life ahead of us, why waste it on who has the better state. I have never heard anyone I know say anything but "Southerners are laid back". I used to think that meant they were lazy. I think it's the hustle and bustle in the North. I am sure there are multi taskers/fast talkers/loud people in VA just like we have here ! LOL LOL. People are the same all over.

I would say it's the other way around. Virginians have a rep (well-founded or not) of being uppity.

That's because of all the northerners who've moved here.

It really is a silly subject - people are in this area (VA and MD) from all other areas. It just depends on what you are looking for in an area to live, your commute, etc.

I'm thankful to say I have never heard of "anything of the sort". We visit Md every chance we get and feel as though we're in VA! Now that being said there are a "few" screws loose everywhere!
Happy New Year

If I was in a grocery store and knew someone was a Marylander, I swear, I would just walk up to them and kick them in the nuts.
