Hi,
I just got a job with a company located near Tysons corner, Vienna, VA and they are paying me a salary of 80k . I don't know what would be the living expenses (housing, grocery, utility etc) ? Could someone help me out?
I don't mind a commute of 20-25 mins either way, if I get a cheaper but safe/decent apartment. Thanks!

Try posting in the Northern Va forum. Include some details about the type of community/environment you're looking for, what you like to do, etc. In general, you should be fine on 80K.

Thanks. will post in the northern VA forum. By the way, I was looking for apartment rental prices for a single person, and all I see is in the range of $1050-1400. How far would I have to go if I want cheaper places?

FAR. So far, that you'd end up spending those extra couple hundred in gas and therapy bills for sitting in traffic. (It may not look far on a map, but traffic is awful enough you'll have a nasty commute to save $10/day in rent)

Vienna was ranked the USA's fourth-best town to live, by "Money magazine" several years ago Vienna, Virginia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . It is also convenient to Metrorail and to many high-tech jobs. The corporate headquarters of AOL used to be in Vienna. All those factors make it a highly desirable community, and drive up housing prices.
