We are looking to move to Virginia in August or Sept. but not sure which town is best to start out in looking for cheap place to rent say 450.00 to 550.00 3 bedroom nice quiet area. I've heard good things and bad things about Dansville & Martinsville but not sure if it's true. I have 2 kids 12 & 13 yrs old. so i would like to find a good area so they can make some good friends. need as much information as i can get on these place or is there a better place in VA to move. and 1 more important thing need a pet friendly area.

I'm a Martinsville native but currently live in Danville. If I didn't have any ties to Martinsville I would choose Danville if I had to decide between the two areas. Danville is bigger and has more amenities. Here's a link to some rental property listings: Wilkins & Co.

Why are you considering those two cities? I would choose an area with more cultural, shopping, and entertainment amenities like Roanoke if you want to live in a small city.
