when would be the best time to visit Fredericksburg and still catch fall foliage. Last time, I visited Leesburg area in like the 3rd week in October and it was somewhat past "peak" there.

Usually the last weekend in October is best, but if there has been a drought, and we get a big storm, then sometimes the leaves will wash away. The third weekend is safer...

The yellows peak closer to the beginning of the month, but the reds and Orange are later, near the end.
