I would think that traveling nurses/CNAs would do well in any rural area. So often I hear that someone had to leave their homeplace to move to town because they got too old to be so far from medical care. A daily visit from a home health nurse or CNA means that an old folk in a rural area gets to stay in their own home that much longer.
Or, there's almost always a market in providing housing for others: either tourists in the form of B&Bs; or locals in the form of affordable rental housing.

There's the Carilion location, the Free Clinic of the NRV location, and the Barter Clinic.

Thi is actually a very good idea. Floyd needs more "basic" stuff, so that people don't have to drive to Christiansburg or wherever to meet their needs.

The Hotel Floyd (small) is now under construction. There are several B&B's around the county.

I think the outfitters is a great service, but Floyd already has one, in the country store, they sell Carhartt clothing. Also, across from Harvest Moon is a Woolrich/Columbia store. Does anyone know about daycare? Do most people drive to Christiansburg or Roanoke for jobs?

Ah, Carhartt, my favorite.
You can look at Sperlings for commuting statistics. I would say most drive north to Montgomery County rather than Roanoke but I could be wrong.
