Default Weather in Hampton?

Hello gals and guys!

I'm an international student coming to Hampton University. Can somebody tell me how is the weather there? Is there a real winter, with snow...?

Thanks
Gery

We do have winter but not a very snow filled one. In the 7 years I have lived here, I would say that we have gotten one significant snow in 4 or 5 of those years. By that I mean one good snowfall of anywhere from 8-12 inches. We do not have snow throughout the winter. It does get cold, (20's and 30's) but the winter is not particularly long.

Summers are miserable and the days can be in the 90's and even 100's (we hit 105 the other day with a heat index of 115). Winters are mild, it can get cold but they are really not that bad. Once in a great while there will be snow and its great because the cities pretty much shut down. I'd stay off the road though if it snowed, people are not real good at driving in it around here. I've lived here 7 years and have seen some snow.

Plan on long hot summers and short cold winters with possibly one snowfall of an inch or less. I don't know where you're from so I don't know what to compare it to.
